It is business as usual in Malawi as citizens enter the
second day of mourning their departed President Bingu wa Mutharika who died
last Thursday, April 5.
A snap survey conducted in Malawi’s commercial capital
Blantyre indicated that people continued with their routine businesses while several
thousands others celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter Sunday in
their various churches.
While many people, particularly those who thought they owned
mother Malawi, are still struggling to accept the reality that change has come
in the country, most youths have been heard poking fun at the death of
Mutharika.
Many Malawians I spoke to, of course except those who were
very close to the late president, believe God has “answered” their prayers to
have a new leader though they never wished Mutharika dead.
On Sunday, April 8th, renowned Nigerian televangelist
TB Joshua told the world during his Sunday live service monitored on his
Emmanuel TV, the late Mutharika prepared for his death basing on the letter he
wrote him on February 24th, 2012 just about 19 days after he prophesized
that an old African leader would die.
